A vague narrative permeates these ‘summer’ paintings which reflect two sides of an ocean. Overall, a subconscious event, yet at the same time and throughout the exercise of painting in general I am constantly drawn towards contrasting situations, unusual structures or color schemes that support the essence or sensation of a particular experience or place.
Titles may be a diary of events but often I leave paintings without titles. These paintings are not homeless but are part of an on going diary. That said, the Estuary paintings could not be Block Island or belong to Aruba – the moods are too dissimilar. |
